Brindisi Terminal Italia S.p.A. was established in December 1998 in order to develop the Costa Morena area into a state-of-the-art international container terminal. Situated on the Southern tip of Italy, the terminal serves not only its domestic market but can be described as a gateway to the Southern Italian regions.
In conjunction with Malta Freeport Brindisi Terminal seeks to offer a comprehensive service, not only for cargoes originating and destined for the region, but also in transhipment containers.

The synergy created by the joint operation with Malta Freeport in the transhipment market plays an important role in the development of Brindisi Terminal. Furthermore, the company will benefit from its commercial experience, evidenced by its classification as the principal transhipment port in the Mediterranean.
In April 2000, the Port Authority granted Brindisi Terminal
Italia S.p.A. the concession to develop the Costa Morena Area into a commercially
viable container terminal.
