Indeed, the Company will channel all its energies to attain this system of collaboration amongst the logistical and maritime operators in order to put together an integrated package of services. This measure is expected to rapidly develop the local demand for containerized transport thus enlarging the market opportunities for the Brindisi Terminal.

This strategy will however be conditioned by the development of internal demand (Central and South Italy), international demand (Freeport Terminal Malta p.l.c.'s trade, the Adriatic and the Balkans ) and the Brindisi Terminal's own internal development.

With increasing container traffic in the Mediterranean and the potential of this development, Brindisi Terminal Italia S.p.A. is expected to handle 30,000 TEUs in the year 2000 increasing to 150,000 in 2003 and rising to a further 350,000 by the year 2005.
